The hints are important to see if we win the game or not. Hints have also an impact on the scoring.
For these reasons, I think it's important to keep it in the final situation.

Currently, it's quite hard to see the cards behind the hints at the end of the game, when we look at the final situation.

A suggestion would be to just translate the hints a bit more on the right / bottom so that we could clearly see both cards and hints.

If 4 hints are grouped in a 2x2 tile it is barely possible to see the lower right card under the tip at the end of the game. Only a slight blip of color is showing. Would be nice to add visibility (transparent hints, smaller hints, button for showing/removing hints, ..). Thanks!

Shrinking the hints to 1/2 size in addition to lifting and shifting would help with visibility.

Depending on which cards have hints, the hints can completely cover the cards below. I second jchate6's suggestion.
